pie stand

When I was a kid I used to make mini pies with the apples and peaches from our backyard and sell them out of a stand on my street.  I also sold eggs from our chickens and homemade tea. The apples from our yard were always tiny and super tart.  Ever since those days I have loved a really sour apple pie with very little added sugar.

My days of selling pies and homemade tea tinctures may have passed but I still love to make pies. I have Kate Lebo and Pie School to thank for the most delicious recipes and pie anecdotes.  This photo was taken by my mom at Thanksgiving as I was prepping our apple pie.
