Whidbey Island

Here is a photo from my day trip to Whidbey Island last week.  On my trip I heard a great speech on sweets, had an amazing pastry, and picked up some used books.  Not too shabby.  I have been living in the Northwest for ten years now and I have not yet seen an orca though.  Perhaps this will happen in 2013?

I found this monarch the other day on one of our walks.  She seemed to be near the end of her days. She had a very slow flutter and seemed a bit confused.  She was beautiful nonetheless and let me pick her up with a piece of bark and move her to a better area away from the traffic.
